LGBTQ+ Network September Newsletter
The LGBTQ+ Network would like to welcome everyone back from their well-earned summer holidays! As a reminder the network meets up once a month and welcome staff from all backgrounds to participate in their monthly meetings. We support our colleagues from all walks of life, from those with a rich and ethnically diverse background, have a disability or are just another person looking to connect with or support other like minded people.
September is home to one of the more forgotten members of LGBTQ+ acronym – Bisexual. The 23rd of September is bi-visibility day, a day to promote and celebrate our members who identify as bisexual. Plenty of misconceptions around bisexuality still exist which is why days which celebrate bisexuality are so important. According to latest research from Stonewall only 1/5 bisexual people are out to their family and friends compared to 3/5 gay men and lesbians. More needs to be done to make bisexual people feel safe in their own skin and the LGBTQ+ network is proud to promote this fantastic day. For a good insight into bisexuality there are some interesting articles below that we thought we would share
