Important Message – Snapchat & Social Media

To all learners,

It has come to our attention that there have been instances of abusive and/or threatening social media posts directed at other learners on Snapchat in recent weeks.

We are writing to remind all learners that Gower College Swansea will not tolerate any form of abuse or harassment aimed at any member of the college community in any form, including cyberbullying.

Should the College identify a learner who has committed these acts we will not hesitate to include all authorities in dealing appropriately with these actions, including the Police where necessary. For the avoidance of any doubt, the College Disciplinary Process will be fully utilised in all proven cases.

Should a learner witness inappropriate behaviour on social media, we urge you to report via the platforms own ‘report content’ process.  Additionally, should activity involve college learners, please also report the incident to your Personal Tutor, Student Support Officer, Pastoral/Progress Coach or other trusted adult.

We recognise these abusive behaviours are only undertaken by a very small minority of learners but we are taking the opportunity to reinforce this message with all.  Thank you to the many of you who are always mindful of their online conduct and contribute to a positive digital environment.
