The SU update

The SU update

Whilst this isn’t the easiest time to reach out to you and tell you about what we are up to. I hope we can keep you updated here. Before I get into the interesting things, I want to thank you, the reader and the students around.

Since these changes have been put in place ever since the beginning of college. Every single student had to adapt to changes within. So whilst you might have had to walk around the college just to get somewhere, that has been the way we keep you safe.

The student experience

With face to face teaching, students are mostly happy. This was the case last year and it’s the case this year.

There are certain issues that we’re looking into for students whilst keeping with the college’s approach which has been careful and gradual. Whilst a lot of things have been campus-specific, we have done a lot already for reopening areas for students to use as just an example.

Guidance and restrictions

From the approach that the college has taken, bubbles are small. Typically just your class. This means that if someone were to cross bubbles, the college might not necessarily know that this happened. This means that containing spread would be more difficult. So it is crucial that everyone stays in those bubbles and follows guidance like following the one-way system.

TOTUM

We introduced TOTUM to the Student Union to help students save their money throughout the college year.

Student Union Politics and representation

When you become a class representative, you are a leader for that class. You can bring up things you want changed and stand up for your movements. From a class representative, you can run for a department representative. That’s where you get an even bigger say on the issues of the students.

Your journey all starts by joining the Student Union by becoming a class representative. Don’t wait for someone else to take this role. Go and get it yourself!

That’s pretty much it. There will be more updates as time goes on.

Your Student Union President,

Laimis Lisauskas
