EU Settlement Scheme

EYST are hosting an information session regarding the EU settlement Scheme, EU citizens’ rights and what help is available from the Citizens Advice Bureau. The session is aimed at informing attendees about the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS), issues relating to it, as well as routes to access tailored support which will enable them to signpost and refer clients to the appropriate service for their needs.

Citizens of the EU, European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, and their family members who want to stay in the UK beyond 30th June 2021 will usually need to apply to the UK Government’s EU Settlement Scheme.

The deadline to apply for both settled status and pre-settled status is 30th June 2021.

EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and their family members who have been continuously resident in the UK for five years for any period until the day of their application may apply for settled status. Obtaining settled status will secure rights to live, work, study and access benefits and/or services in the UK.

Those who are not able to prove continuous residency of five years will be eligible for pre-settled status.  To get pre-settled status, individuals need to prove they’ve lived in the UK for at least 1 day that was both on or before 31 December 2020 AND in the 6 months before they applied.

The information sessions will have the following structure: a presentation on the EUSS, which will include each partner introducing their organisation and detailing the services they offer, and finally a chance to discuss any specific issues through an open Q&A session.
