Kenya Project – Blog Post 1

Kenya Community Education Partnership (KCEP)

This year is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the KCEP charity that oversees the work of the Partnership and which over this period has funded the salaries of 2 teachers in a primary school in a village called Madungu in Western Kenya, and which has helped to reduce the average class size in the school.

And next summer, to celebrate this anniversary – which is a remarkable achievement for the students and staff of the College – a team of 10 students and 4 staff will be travelling out to Kenya to visit the school and to meet the pupils and teachers.  The trip will be heavily subsidised from funding that the College has secured and I am writing to remind all students that applications are still open for anyone who would like to apply to go on the trip (see below).

However, before then, we will be holding a number of sponsorship activities/ events to raise funds for the project including a “Walrus Drip” in the sea before Christmas.  I am now able to confirm that this will take place on the morning of Saturday 16 December in either Oxwich or Caswell Bay with further details to be shared next week.  You will need to make your own arrangements to get to and back from Caswell.

Over the next couple of weeks we will drop in regular updates and information onto this site but in the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please add them to this Channel and we will do our best to respond asap.

Regards,
Mark Jones
College Principal and Chair of the KCEP Board of Trustees
